Jordan Seguin-Gascoigne is a critically acclaimed mezzo-soprano celebrated for her versatile performances across operas, musicals, concerts, and world premieres. With a diverse repertoire, she has collaborated with esteemed companies such as Portland Opera, Nashville Opera, Tacoma Opera, Vashon Opera, and Pacific Northwest Opera, as well as internationally with Ensemble Orquesta in London and New Trinity Baroque in Belgrade.
Her extensive experience includes notable roles such as Adalgisa in Norma, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and Hansel in Hansel und Gretel. Jordan has also portrayed Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, and Zerlina in Don Giovanni. Additionally, she has taken on characters like Nancy in Albert Herring and Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro.
Jordan has a particular passion for early music, which she has explored through various festivals and masterclasses. Her dedication to this genre was highlighted during her participation in the Bach Meisterkurs in Leipzig, Germany, where she honed her skills in performing Bach's passions. She made her role debut as Erminio for the Amherst Early Music Festival in Il trionfo dell'onore and has performed as Sesto in Giulio Cesare with New Trinity Baroque, immersing herself in the stylistic intricacies of early repertoire and baroque operas. She continues to work with Contralto Sonia Prina, further enhancing her expertise in this vibrant musical tradition.
In addition to her operatic work, Jordan is an accomplished recitalist. She has participated in numerous recitals with organizations such as Second City Chamber Series in Lakewood, WA, Music Northwest in Seattle, Hearthstone Chapel Recital Series in Seattle, Opera on Wheels with Nashville Opera, and the San Juan Islands Recital Series. Her recital repertoire spans a wide range of styles, including Italian art song, Fauré's chansons, lieder, American songbook classics, and Irish folk songs.
A significant highlight of Jordan's career was her participation in the world premiere of Yoshinaka by Garrett Fisher, where she portrayed Tomoe in an adaptation of traditional Japanese tales. This production featured Living National Treasures from Japan's Takeda Noh troupe, enhancing its cultural significance and showcasing her ability to bridge diverse musical traditions.
Recently, Jordan has been involved in several exciting projects, including a collaboration with Camerata Bardi at the Morellino Music Festival, showcasing her diverse musical expressions. This year, she is excited to reprise the role of Sesto in Giulio Cesare in France, perform as Cherubino in Italy, and make her role debut as Komponist in Ariadne auf Naxos.
A graduate of The San Francisco Conservatory of Music, she currently lives in Nashville with her husband, daughter, two dogs, and cat. Jordan is also a professor of classical voice at Belmont University.
